Reflectors

You can't crack a perfect hole in the pavement.
You can't build a city out of debris.
You can't be a captor to my enslavement
Without throwing rusted chains at my feet,
But you see through me.
You see through me.

You see through every little lie and my deceit,
You see through every loving gesture I've faked.
You can't shake out all the dust from the backseat
Without keeping all the dead men awake.
Yeah, you see through me.
You see through me.

Don't question the words I'm not telling.
You can't purchase the guilt I'm not selling.
All along you've been convinced
That you're a maiden, I'm your prince,
But now you know it's all pretend.
It was only an act to trap you in the end.

You can't crack a perfect hole in the pavement.
You can't build a city out of debris.
You can't be a captor to my enslavement
Without throwing rusted chains at my feet,
But you see through me.
You see through me.

Don't question the words I'm not telling.
You can't purchase the guilt I'm not selling.
All along you've been convinced
That you're a maiden, I'm your prince,
But now you know it's all pretend.
It was only an act to trap you in the end.

Standing there, perched atop your kill.
Standing there, perfectly still.
Standing there, perched atop your kill.
You lost your thirst.
You lost the thrill.

All along you've been convinced
That you're a maiden, I'm your prince,
But now you know it's all pretend.
It was only an act to trap you in the end.

Stagnant Hearts

I tried to hold tight, but she slipped right through my fingers.
I tried to forfeit this love, but still it lingers.
It's still bringing me up and down and up again.
It's a fight that I might never win.

But honestly, why would I succumb
To a humdrum life with nothing but the sun?
Stagnant hearts need to run.
It needs to rain sometimes (it needs to).
It needs to rain sometimes (it needs to).
It needs to rain sometimes.

I tried to hold tight, but she slipped right through the holes.
I tried to do right, but I lost sight of my goals.

You can sit, you can wait for brighter days.
I'll admit that the weight of this rain can derogate,
But sometimes it needs to.

I tried to hold tight, but she slipped right through my fingers.

But honestly, why would I succumb
To a humdrum life with nothing but the sun?
Stagnant hearts need to run.
It needs to rain sometimes (it needs to).
It needs to rain sometimes (it needs to).
It needs to rain sometimes.

Remain Seated

Sitting in a chair/ the blare from the sun/ burns in a flare/ Despair streams over me/ I cannot breathe/ Laughter in the air is rare in this place/ compared to the dame whose face and hair are fair/ She says to me/ This will only hurt for a moment/ Let me help ease the pain/ You'd rather take the twinge/ the throe/ Your mouth will bleed/ you know this/ but it's what you're paying for/ so take the throe/ the twinge/

I've grown weak/ I cannot talk/ I've tried to speak/ but my body is numb/

All the things I've done/ have come to this moment/ Holding onto folded arms/ Desperate/ This will only hurt for a moment/ Let me help ease the pain/ You'd rather take the twinge/ the throe/ Your mouth will bleed/ you know this/ but it's what you're paying for/ so take the throe/ the twinge/

I've grown weak/ I cannot talk/ I've tried to speak/ but my body is numb/

The Alex Show - 39

When you live amongst the shadows, you adapt to their form. Darkness encompasses you. It becomes your life-force, your oxygen. Without darkness you are nothing.

ASIDE: A peculiar thought considering that the absence of something is nothing. However, within my born days, I have learned that "nothing" is far more eminent than most "somethings."

I have lived amongst the shadows, and I can tell you that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. The faintest glimpse of light is only a false hope, for all it does is blind; the faintest sound, blaring. The sense of touch, however, is unparalleled. It awakens me, and transmits my shadow into a true and tangible form: a wall-clinger. It is here that I can make contact. It is here that I can act upon what the shadows have taught me: the only veritable way to defeat the darkness is to embrace it entirely. And I must say, the pupil has become the master.

In every respect, I am now the world's deepest dread. I am now what you all must live amongst. I am your reckoning. I am the darkness.
